Flash Lab Tasks- Studio

  I used the flash red eye reduction for this shot. This was my first shot using flash on a DSR camera (and it lit up the whole room!). I used the ambiance lighting in cooperation with the flash using the rear setting. These two pictures were taken with FEC +1 and -3 respectively, showing the major lighting difference between the two settings.

Any questions can be discussed at the lab session next For the purposes of this assignment I used my younger brother as a model. For this exercise I demonstrated the smooth gradient of light and shadow when my subject looked 45 degrees to his right with the window giving natural light on his right also, because of this the light is smooth in its transition to the dark side of his head. {Note: I left facial expressions to my models imagination) Here you can see the sharp contrasts between the light and dark of the models face and facial features such as the nose and under the eyelids, caused by turning his his to be 90 degrees to the window and natural light. With a 90 degrees to the camera and facing towards the natural light, his face gains all the light to be fully visible however the back of his head and outward features such as behind his jawline receive a gradual
