Reading 05

The International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, Volume XLII-2/W3, 2017 3D Virtual Reconstruction and Visualization of Complex Architectures, 1–3 March 2017, Nafplio, Greece. The authors (T. P. Kersten a*, F. Tschirschwitz a, S. Deggim of a HafenCity University Hamburg, Photogrammetry & Laser Scanning Lab, Überseeallee 16, D-20457 Hamburg, Germany - (Thomas.Kersten, Felix.Tschirschwitz, Simon.Deggim)@hcu-hamburg.de) keep a history of VR in Virtual Museums or “MR”. MR has been around longer than many would realise, the authors date it back to the 1990’s depending on your definition of MR, which they define as “a virtual museum is a * Corresponding author digital entity that draws on the characteristics of a museum, in order to complement, enhance, or augment the museum experience through personalization, interactivity and richness of content. Virtual museums can perform as the digital footprint of a physical museum or can act indep

This week I learnt about tilemaps, which are grids comprised of tiles and sprites, its all very complex but it was an interesting read, it took a lot longer to do than I originally thought but know I think I understand how sprites work just a little more!

Tutorial 3

Image
This weeks tutorial had us creating a robot in AR and being able to see him on our phone. Since my Unity is too new I couldn't complete most of this tutorial. Also my phone is incapable of running the AR. Fun. I did watch all videos and read the theory to make up for this.

I have been learning about and following along with Ruby's Adventure, the 2D game developed by some students in our course along with the XR path as I am interested to know the development of a 2D game in Unity. This week I followed along and completed all steps of part one apart from the tile map exercise which I will do next week as I can learn this path at a more relaxed pace thanks to it being my secondary path.

Tutorial 02

I have indeed done the tutorial this week, the notes are down below as follows:

Beginner Scripting- Scripts as Behaviour Components

Image
This exercise was less in testing skills but more so a short demonstration or lecture on how scripts can be used as behavioural scripts, and how some functions n coding work. For example the script in the example simply changed the colour of the game object upon certain key presses. This was explained as the code asking unity to go into the mesh renderer or the "renderer" and changing the material to a specific color saved in unity, red blue and green.

Planning, Reading 02

Firstly the video on the information cycle was very interesting, if not a bit weird due to the youtubers strange voices and behaviour. The way information flows from by the second news to by the month studies to by the years books and back again is very interesting, however the video never actually tells us how information from books made years later passes into the news cycle again, therefore I looked it up and found it is less of a cycle and more of a linear path, strange that it is recognised as a cycle yet I digress. Our other reading task and main reading task this week is to begin planning our research for the project, we as a group (Me, Eoghan, Leon, Aaron and Luke) have discussed the possible ways we can research and follow the modules instructions to secure things such as a "Search Strategy" and more. PART A: PLANNING YOUR APPROACH: 1. Who- Is this chapter's target audience, is going to know a considerable amount of information on this topic, is going to be a g
